I fell on Sunday August 28, 2011 and was in the Dr.'s office on August 29, 2011. Keep in mind I have never seen this Dr, before. I was not in the waiting room 5 minutes before a really nice nurse came to help me. When I was in getting my x-rays I saw a very nice Dr. looking at me with such compassion. I was hoping this would be my Dr. I was so glad it was him when he came in the room. Wow he was great. This is the Dr. you want to see if you are in pain. (Fibula Fracture)

Dr. Hurst treated my right foot for a very painful presentation of plantar fasciitis . Rest and a direct injection into the swollen tendon were not effective in my case, so Dr. Hurst ended up performing Coblation surgery (aka Topaz procedure) on my foot with excellent success.

After a few visits and getting to know him, it became very apparent to me that he isn't just in practice for the money. Making feet happy again is what drives him and obviously his chosen practice is his first and best destiny. He is a caring, honest, and down to earth man that rides a Harley-Davidson. You can't beat that. He is very easy to talk to and treats you like a friend. Whether you have a bunion or a crushed ankle he will take care of it with the best state of the art medical procedures available. I guarantee that you will brag to your friends, family, and co-workers that you have one of the best foot specialists around.

You won't feel like your in a cattle yard either when you visit his office. I was very impressed with his doctor/staff to patient ratio.

Dr. Hurst and his staff achieve results the good old fashioned way.

One foot at a time.

Let me take a moment to say how impressed I was with Dr. Hurst and his assistant Suzee. They made me feel very comfortable prior and during a procedure that I was having done this past week. Suzee made positively sure, that the deadening she had applied to the area had taken full affect before she suggested to the doctor that her tasks had been done, and I was ready for him to begin. It was painful getting the shots to numb the area initially, but as it took affect it lessened quite a bit and I felt "nothing" at all during the actual procedure. All of the staff there are very cordial, and I would recommend their office to my friends and family.

Dr. John a/k/a foot saver

You know when you sign papers before surgery about possible complications? You always think it will happen so someone else. I am that someone else.

About 2 years ago I had bunion surgery with a Podiatrist, who was not Dr. John. I sure wish it had been though. The surgeon broke the bone above my big toe and put a screw in. She also shaved the bunion off. The recovery from the surgery was very painful but eventually the pain went away. I wish my story stopped there. But alas it does not. I was happy. The bunion was gone. The scar looks bad but at least I was not in pain.

Fast forward six months. I had a new pain. A worse pain. In the ball of my foot right at the 2nd toe. I went to see Dr. John this time. I had gotten smarter. Dr. John tried several things but eventually we came to the conclusion that I needed another surgery. The initial bunion surgery shortened my big toe, which caused problems with my second toe. Off to surgery I went. I signed those silly complication forms again. Still thinking they were talking about someone else.

Dr. John fixed my second toe problem. He also had to put a screw in. Now when someone says I have a screw loose I look at my foot to see which one it is. I just knew it would be a horribly painful recovery. The first surgery was so why wouldn’t this one be. Amazingly enough I had no pain at all after the surgery. Dr. John had told me that I would not but I didn’t believe him. He was right though. You can barely see the scar from this surgery...............................................

The surgery that the 1st surgeon performed was painful. It was a fluke that the surgery that Dr. John did wasn’t painful, I assumed. How could a doctor perform surgery without pain? Of course they can’t. I am so happy to tell you that they can! If they are good. If they take the time to be careful. If they care about their patients. I did not have pain after my surgery.

The scars looks great. If you look at my foot you will see three scars. One that is jagged, think and ugly. Two that are clean, smooth and barely visible. Those two are from the surgeries that Dr. John performed. The ugly one is from the surgery that the complications stemmed from.

I chose to use Dr. John because he listened. He cared what was wrong with me. I could email him and tell him how I was doing. He understood that I was in pain and truly wanted me to get better. I trusted him to perform my surgeries because when I looked into his eyes I knew he would to the very best job he could. And he did.

I can walk now without pain. My foot will never be the same. I believe if I had seen Dr. John for my bunion surgery I would not have the ugly scar. I would have had a pain free bunion surgery and I would not have needed two more surgeries. Choose a surgeon that will do his very best to make sure that you are not the person that those silly little forms about complications are talking about.

This has been a two year ordeal. Dr. John saw me though a year and a half of it. I cannot think of another person that I would have wanted to be there for me. If you need a Podiatrist choose Dr. John. You will be truly amazed at his talent and his compassion. Try not to kick him though. He doesn’t like it.

Jody W.

I just wanted to thank Dr. Hurst and his entire staff for the AMAZING care that I have received over the last 4 months. I broke my foot, and was very fortunate to be referred to Dr. Hurst. I was able to get into see Dr. Hurst the day that I fell, and the everyone in the office was so kind and very knowledgeable. When I had surgery, I felt so comfortable, and no anxiety, as I had heard such wonderful things about Dr. Hurst. I was seeing another doctor for something not related and she asked who did my surgery. I said “Dr. Hurst” and she said “I have heard some great things about him, you are in wonderful hands”. No better recommendation than another doctor. I have continued to recommend him to anyone who is having issues with their feet. My personal THANKS to Dr. Hurst and his entire office staff for an OUTSTANDING job! You guys are the BEST! THANKS so much!

I like to run and have completed more than 20 half-marathons over the past 8 years. Unfortunately, a neuroma in my right foot caused me extreme pain in the final miles. I consulted with Dr. Hurst who recommended a conservative approach with cortisone injections. That improved the situation, easing the pain, but eventually I elected to have that neuroma removed and also had a bunion fixed at the same time. I never experienced any pain following the surgery. My recovery went very smoothly. Now, just 3 months after surgery, I am back to running. I just finished a 4 mile run and my foot feels just fine! Many thanks to Dr. Hurst and his staff for their care and kindness.

One of the nicest and most professional doctors I have ever met is Dr. Shine John. He took care of my son's ingrown toenail and then my broken foot. We never had to wait to be seen and he always greeted us with a handshake and smile. The entire staff at Foot Specialists is great. I highly recommend Dr. John.

I had quite the unusual situation when I walked in the door of Austin foot specialist. I broke my fourth toe two weeks before I left on trip to India that had been scheduled for 8 months. Dr. John very kindly informed me that I "broke it in every possible way" and that I would need surgery. He promptly schedule me in, put a screw in my toe, and strapped me in a boot. Th day before I flew out of town (read:the western hemisphere) Dr. John gave me all the information and antibiotics I needed while traveling in a third world country. This was important, but beyond the medical

Necessities I felt confident emailing or calling Dr. John throughout my trip with my many concerned questions about the healing process. I'm healed now, training for a marathon, teaching yoga, and happy with my new titanium addition (the toe screw). Stop by his office and check out my pics of hiking the Himalayas in a foot specialist bona-fide durable and comfortable boot.

I highly recommend Dr. John to anyone who is in need of an intelligent, compassionate doctor. My experience with Dr. John has been wonderful. My only complaint is that he only works on feet!

Angie E.

Dr. Hurst,

Thanks so much for being such a caring, wonderful podiatrist. It's so comforting to know that superior care for my poor "pups" is only a phone call away. Your staff is always so pleasant, and they make appointments enjoyable.

On August 19th Dr. Hurst preformed major reconstructive surgery on my right foot. At age 44 I realized my birth defect of flat feet and an unknown injury that healed badly among other issues with my foot was interrupting my daily activities. I knew that Dr. Hurst was the place to go for my surgery based on his reputation as a surgeon in the Cedar Park community. He gave me the confidence to know I could do the long healing process and come out with great results. With his structured guidance to recovery I followed every direction 100% of the time and my recovery was very smooth. Dr. Hurst and his staff Amanda and Michelle are a loving and caring group of professionals who only want the best for their patients. I wholeheartedly recommend this medical practice to anyone who is having problems with their feet. Every visit was a pleasant experience.

Warmest Regards & Happy Healthy Feet,
Kay D-B.

I wanted to take the time to write and tell you how much I appreciate Dr Hurst and his entire staff. Dr Hurst operated on my foot two weeks ago and I have had two follow ups. The surgery center and the procedure were made to feel like a "Walk in the Park"...I was very leery of the procedure in the beginning but knew I had to get it done. I was met with a friendly and assuring staff and made to feel comfortable the entire time. I have never written a thank you to a Doctor or staff before and with the hurried lifestyle most all of us have, I really wanted to let everyone at Foot Specialists know how satisfied I am and thankful I have Dr Hurst and staff to come to.

We don't see many businesses, much less Dr Offices, taking the care and showing the appreciation that your office does.

I went to the Foot Specialists of Cedar Park for problems that I was having with my legs.

I have been to see Dr. Shine John and his nurse, Zulma, twice, and I have been delighted with their excellent bedside manner and the extraordinary care that they have provided to me.

My first visit was quite impressive. Dr. John and Zulma treated me with such friendliness and genuine concern, and they made me feel comfortable and totally confident that they would help resolve the problems that I've had with my legs for a very long time.

The treatment I received during the first visit brought me immediate relief from the constant pain that I had been feeling for months.

My second visit was just as great, and I left feeling much better.

Dr. John and Zulma are amazing, and made me feel like a special and pampered patient.

Thanks so much.

Best Regards,
Mr. Carroll B.

In this day and age of doctors seeing patients in "assembly line" fashion (get them in, spend 2 minutes with them, get them out), it is refreshing to be under the care of Dr. Wayne Hurst. I have been a patient of Dr. Hurst for a couple of years now due to ongoing foot problems. Dr. Hurst always takes the time to explain to me what is going on, and answer any questions I may have. The care he provides to his patients is top notch. I have had 4 surgeries because of my foot problems and Dr. Hurst has always called me at home after surgery to see how I was doing. He genuinely cares about each one of his patients. When you see Dr. Hurst, it does not feel like your seeing a doctor, he makes you feel like your chatting with an old friend.

You have many choices when choosing a Podiatrist or Foot Specialist, so why wouldn't you choose the best? Dr. Hurst and the staff at Foot Specialists of Cedar Park & Georgetown are simply the best in the business.

Thank you for everything!

Dr. John is an excellent surgeon. My recovery time was much faster than friends who had other surgeons. He and his staff are extremely caring and take your concerns seriously. It is wonderful to no longer have pain in my feet. If I ever need surgery on my feet or ankles in the future, I will turn my care over to him.

I started seeing Dr. John in the fall of '09. I can honestly say I have never been treated better by a doctor! I was in the office weekly or what seemed like weekly for months. He tried a number of things to relieve my heel pain from Plantar Fasciitis. Ultimately an MRI showed that a more aggressive approach was going to be necessary. I underwent the Topaz procedure in January and at exactly 8 months post-op ran my first half marathon virtually pain free!

Dr. John fully respected my need to get back to a normal fitness level. I remember asking him what our goal was with everything we were trying. He looked straight at me and said, "My goal is to get you back to exactly where you were before." Some of the other professionals I had seen basically told me that I would have to make adjustments to my routine and accept that I may never be as active as I once was.

I never felt rushed when I had my appointment, I even asked if there were other patients waiting while I was using up all his time! He reassured me that it was MY appointment time, letting me know that he must make all his patients feel like they were his only.

Another thing I noticed was that Dr. John always listened and despite the fact that I, personally, was feeling like a complainer, he never felt that way. He wanted to know how my feet felt...honestly! He was very determined to solve my problem, not just bandage it. It is rare to find a doctor that doesn't give up! I know without question that if the Topaz procedure had not worked, he would have moved on to the next procedure, as he would have been driven to make it right. Early on when we were trying more passive approaches he actually told me once that my situation "intrigued" him.

I am glad that my plantar faciitis seems to be behind me, but if I EVER have anything go awry with my feet, I'll be back in his office within days. I recommend Dr. John and the Foot Specialists to people every single chance I get!!

Thank you Dr. John, you have given me my life back!!

Dr. John,
I would I just like to Thank You for all you have done for me. I think you are the most compassionate and caring doctor I have ever met. You make me feel so special when I come to see you. I have so many medical problems and you listen to me, you don't rush with me, you take time to explain everything to me . As for anyone looking for a Great doctor, this is the Man to see. I have a chronic lung disease, diabetes, arthritis, and several other things to deal with and Dr. John addressed each of these problems and had me see my Primary Care doctor and Lung Specialists, before he would even consider doing surgery on me.

I had two surgery's in two weeks. I can't tell you how wonderful he was. He called each night to check on me. He made sure I was in no pain. He even gave me his Cell Phone # in case I had problems. I have been seeing him since 2009 and I won't think of seeing anyone else, for my foot problems! I just love him. He has the best bedside manner, he doesn't make you wait, he is just awesome!

If you need a great Surgeon, or Foot Specialist, I hope you will give him a call. I promise you will not be disappointed. Dr. John, I just love you and have the most respect for you as a person and as Doctor and Surgeon.

Thanks Again,
Judy R.

May 13, 2010

My name is Judy B., from Summerfield, Florida, and Maine in the summer months. I would like to share a little history of myself regarding foot and ankle pain. After a few of years of "chronic" foot and ankle pain, caused by a birth deformity in my right foot (flat and fallen arch), I started searching for the ideal doctor to take care of my problems. Through word of mouth in my area, I went to see several foot and ankle orthopedic doctors. None of them wanted to address my problem to the fullest degree. Most of the doctors are too busy to give their patients more than 15 minutes per appointment. I was treated very conservatively over a period of two years and was getting extremely frustrated about this situation. During that time, I was suffering with a lot of pain in my entire foot. I had to stop my usual walking program, which I enjoyed, so as not to create more damage to my ankle. According to my doctor's report, I was told I had posterior tibial tendon tear (or Grade 1 tendinosis) in my ankle and Achilles, plus low cartilage in the midfoot area. This doctor prescribed an air cast that I had to wear 24 hours a day, advising me that this boot would surely heal my foot problem. It does help with the pain, though. I have been wearing the boot since March 5, but the mechanics of my foot are still the same. When I walk without the boot, it is still very painful. This doctor told me that I was not a candidate for reconstructive surgery for another few years down the road.

Being the type of person that never gives up, I did my own research on Google. I came across this website of Foot and Ankle Specialists. I decided to write to them about my problem. I received an answer from this wonderful doctor, Dr. John. I was truly impressed by him and the fact that he took the time from his busy schedule to call me up to discuss my foot/ankle situation, and guide me along the path of locating the most qualified orthopedic doctor in my home states.

This is what I say about Dr. John - He is truly a compassionate and sincere doctor, who treats all of his patients with the highest degree of honesty and genuine caring. I feel blessed that our paths have crossed. Not too many doctors in this day and age take an open interest in their patients, and non-patients, as well, as Dr. John does. He is a fine human being and if I lived in the Austin, Texas area, I certainly would have him perform the surgery that is required for my foot.

In closing, I have always believed that in a person's lifetime, there will be someone that will cross your path, and change your life forever. Dr. John has done exactly this. I call him my guardian angel. They say that we all have one, and he is the one for me. He has great communication skills and I could sense from the first time I talked with him that he was genuinely interested in me as a person, and not just a number in his office practice.

He assured me that the doctor I will be seeing in Maine is highly qualified and that I will be in good hands. If anyone in the Austin area is looking for qualified foot and ankle specialists, contact the Foot Specialists of Cedar Park and Georgetown. I would trust Dr. John completely, as he is a kind and loving human being, and I can tell by talking with him a few times that he is totally dedicated in his profession.

Sincerely,
Judy B.

I have had nothing but a great experience EVERY time I have seen Dr. John. He and his staff are awesome!

I had surgery twice in February and Dr. John went out of his way to accommodate mine and my husband's schedule.

I received a phone call from Dr. John after each of my surgeries after I went home to make sure I was doing okay. He is very caring about his patients and easy to talk to.

Dr. John and his staff are friendly and helpful and are top notch in my book. I would highly recommend Dr. John/Foot Specialists to anyone.

My wife, Martha, and I have been patients of Dr. Hurst for over two years. We are extremely pleased with his professionalism and that of his entire staff. He and all of his staff are most friendly and very good at what they do and that is exactly what we want and like when we see any doctor.

Hello,

I was in your office on Tuesday, the 9th and what an AWESOME experience. First of all, my mom referred him so I called thinking since I'm a new patient it would be days before I would see him but to my surprise my appointment was the very next day. I checked in and his nurse called me back, I can't think of her name but she was sooooo nice, OMG. She took x-rays and we had a very nice conversation, I felt really comfortable. So then I met Dr. Hurst.OMGoodness, I just LOVE him, my mom told me he was nice but he was sooo sweet too!!!! I had so much fun w/the both of them throughout my examination. I would recommend all my friends, family, whomever to Foot Specialist in Cedar Park. This was a WONDERFUL, AWESOME experience. I can truly say I can't wait to go back!!!! LOL

I would highly recommend the Foot Specialists of Cedar Park and Georgetown. They are professional, innovative, and they were more concerned about my overall well being as opposed to seeing me as just another patient. They took into account my active lifestyle and tailored my treatment plan to specifically address my needs. This allowed me to continue my daily activities with minimal disruption.

Dr. John took the time to explain all of my options and gave me the information I needed to make a informed decision. I feel 100 times better than when I walked through their doors for my first visit.

Thank you to all of the wonderful staff and doctors at the Foot Specialist of Cedar Park and Georgetown!

My name is Lee Anne H. and I started seeing Dr. John last month. He has been the most helpful Doctor that I have met so far, and believe me I have met a lot of Doctors. He continues to see to it that I do not leave his office without some kind of resolution and prepares me for the next step of my treatment. The whole staff at this office should be commended for their professionalism. The atmosphere is calming and friendly. I couldn't be happier with my choice to come to this office.

Lee Anne H.

Dr Hurst is the best. He is extremely knowledgeable about prescription, medical conditions and how to accommodate your needs for medications. He is a great surgeon. I have had several surgeries on my feet and this is the first time I have had no problem healing. For the first time in many years I can walk in regular shoes and I have no pain. The office staff are terrific. He is very caring and spends the same amount of time with you as he does his other patients. He makes you just as important as the next patient. He is well worth waiting for. If I could rate him with a billion stars I would. I would and I do recommend him to everyone with foot problems. I even have my other family members seeing him for their foot care.

Great Doctor
by Seera C.

I was referred to Dr. Hurst from 3 other friends who have been his patients in the past. One of my friends had extensive surgery on her toes - all ten of them, which most were hammer toes and really needed to be "fixed". I can speak for Dr. Hurst abilities just by looking at how he turned such ugly toes into such beautiful ones. I have seen Dr. Hurst twice for a broken metatarsal bone in my foot and he is very knowledgeable in his field of practice and has given me excellent advice in how to heal my broken bone.

I also know that if a patient does not follow the doctors orders, all that talent and good work can be for naught. Dr. Hurst's "bedside" manner is over the top.there are lots of medical specialists in this city, but I have found few doctors that possess the outward caring personality that Dr. Hurst has for his patients. He is just a wonderful person as well as being an excellent doctor.

Blessings - Joy - Peace

Barbara P.

I have no suggestions but to keep on doing what y'all do best...taking care of our feet! I am seen at the Georgetown office and have found each and everyone of the employees to be terrific. I recommend this facility frequently.

Thank you,
Elizabeth

Dr. Hurst and his staff are terrific!
January 19, 2009

I am a licensed professional (nurse) in the Georgetown area. I have used Dr. Hurst and his offices, in Georgetown and Cedar Park several times over the past year. I have had surgery twice and have had GREAT experiences each time. The staff is above and beyond, with anything I need. Post op care was terrific and I was even given the Doctor's cell number, over a holiday weekend if I needed anything.

He called the evening I was released to make sure everything was okay. I understand the need to reschedule appointment times, due to emergencies that can arise, and this has happened to me. I didn't mind rescheduling, nor do I mind waiting for an appointment. Dr. Hursts' office staff ALWAYS works in any patient that needs to be evaluated and has worked me into a full schedule on several occasions. There is something to be said about an office who will work in all patients, regardless of insurance, but based on patient need. I will continue all foot care with him and his offices, and recommend him to anyone I meet who may need foot care. If I could rate higher than a 5 star, I would.

Beth

Wonderful Doctor and staff

Awesome experience!
September 24, 2008

I see Dr. Hurst for my podiatry care and can't say enough good things about him. His knowledge, his professionalism, his courtesy and bed side manner is exceptional. He did surgery on my foot and it was a great surgical experience. He was always available to answer questions, refill medications, and go the extra mile for me. I am a medical professional in the community and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family/friends/patients..anyone I know. Dr. Hurst's staff is also very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. If I ever need any foot care..this is where I would end up!
