Cryoanalgesia Procedure For Heel Pain
One of the latest treatments for heel, arch, and neuromas is Cryoanalgesia. The doctors have added this minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in the office setting. “We are so pleased with the number of patients with chronic plantar fasciitis who have improved following this in-office procedure.” Although most patients respond to anti-inflammatory medications, taping and strapping, orthotics and stretching, it is beneficial to have a minimally invasive procedure that can many times keep patients from having to have a surgical plantar fascial tendon release.
Custom Orthotics And Shoes
Both offices offer biomechanical analysis of patients and athletes for custom allsport orthotics. Many patients are enjoying the new selection of Crocs with custom orthotics, Bite sandals and flip-flops with custom orthotics and custom fashion and dress shoes.
Diabetic Shoes And Diabetic Insoles
Diabetic patients that have decreased or no sensation in the foot greatly benefit from the protection
of diabetic shoes and protective insoles. Dr. Hurst and Dr. John continue to provide a large selection of diabetic shoes with custom measuring for foot type and size.
In-Office Computerized Vascular Screening For Circulation
To screen patients with diabetes or anyone with a decrease in circulation, Dr. Hurst and Dr. John added a computerized vascular room where pressures in the thigh, calf, and toes are compared to arm pressures to evaluate for drops in circulation within the lower extremity and foot. “The peripheral arterial disease (PAD) computer system allows us to recognize patients that have high risk diabetic feet and we work closely with interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons that perform procedures to improve circulation to the foot.”
Extracorporeal Shock Wave
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is used to treat chronic heel pain (plantar fasciitis/heel spur syndrome). During this non-invasive surgical procedure, sonic waves are directed at the area of pain using a device similar to that currently used in non-surgical treatment of kidney stones. "Extracorporeal" means "outside of the body," and refers to this non-invasive surgical procedure in which strong sound waves are directed at the area of heel pain.
